Hello, my name is Karin Chang-Kue and I would personally like to invite you to Emmanuel Lighthouse United Pentecostal Church and tell you my story of what God has done in my life. I was like any young person, wanting to go away to university and see what this world had to offer me. But all that this world brought forth into my life was pain, hurt, disappointment and destruction. What I found was alcohol, drugs, a world full of lies and deceit, and pressure from society that this is a ‘normal life’ made it nearly impossible not to get drawn in. I became anxious, stressed, depressed and suffered from several obsessive-compulsive disorders. I nearly became an alcoholic thinking that it was the only way to escape the world and have a good time. I saw several doctors who thought that by prescribing drugs my problems would be solved but somehow I always knew that it would not help. Things got so bad that I even considered taking my own life to escape. I had finally gotten to the point where I didn’t think there was a decent person in this world that would think of someone else before themselves, someone who would drop everything to tell you that they sincerely cared. I’ll never forget the day that I let God begin to do a work in my life. On April 29th, 2005 I sat in a church on a Friday night and I opened my heart to God for the first time. He filled me with his wonderful spirit and I was baptized in the name of Jesus. (Acts 2 in the Bible) I’ll never forget going home that night and falling asleep, because when I woke up the next

morning I realized that it was the first night in years that I had not cried myself to sleep. Jesus had come in with his love and showed me what I was missing in my life. There was a peace I had been longing for that only Jesus could provide. Since that day I have been serving the Lord and am truly amazed day after day at the wonder of who he is. He put joy in my life and a song in my heart. If you ever want to know the source of my happiness it is because I serve a great God who is loving, caring and faithful and my only wish is that everybody could know what it’s like to have him working in their lives.
