Hi there, my name is Colleen Splaine. I was born and raised right here in Pembroke. I’d like to tell you about the wonderful change that Jesus has made in my life. While growing up I went to Sunday School every week and even won many perfect attendance awards. However, when my Sunday School years were over, I made the decision to quit going to church altogether. My parents divorced and this left me feeling angry and rejected. Although my mother was very kind and loving, I lashed out and rebelled against her. I wouldn’t follow any of her rules and did what I pleased. I began drinking, using drugs, staying out all night and living a life of immorality. Many times I left the bars literally falling down drunk. I quit school. I ended up in a relationship with a drug addict. My life was going nowhere fast. I remember sitting on the edge of my bed and thinking that there had to be more to life than this. It all seemed so meaningless. Although I no longer attended church, I still felt God speaking to my heart but I didn’t really know what to do about it. We were invited to a Christmas concert at a church here in town, Emmanuel Lighthouse UPC. As I sat and listened to the songs and the children doing their parts in recitations I could feel something that I hadn’t felt before. It was the presence of God. It was the most powerful and moving experience that I had ever felt and I knew that this was the place that I could find what I needed. Soon afterwards I asked God to forgive me and was baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:37-39). My life has

never been the same! That same man who had been a drug addict is now my husband of 18 years. Jesus has completely delivered him from his addictions and he is serving the Lord as well. Many times over the years God has met our needs and we’ve learned to lean on Him through every trial that comes our way. I now have a peace and joy in my heart that I was never able to find anywhere else. No matter what the circumstances in your life, Jesus is able to pick up the broken pieces and put them back together. He has a perfect plan for you.

At Emmanuel Lighthouse you will find a friendly welcome, Apostolic worship, and Bible-based preaching and teaching. You will also find an opportunity to build a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. We have two services on Sunday at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm and a service/Bible Study on Tuesday at 7:00 pm.
